Hi there! My name is Chelsea; Welcome to Confluence Photography!
The name “Confluence” comes from a few different places. First, it comes from the name of a park in my hometown, Binghamton, NY (I live in Brooklyn now!). “Confluence” literally means “a junction of two rivers” and Confluence Park is a small park adjacent to where the Chenango and Susquehanna Rivers meet. I often used to take photos there at the very beginning of my photography journey back in 2014. Second, the name also comes from a play on words, an analogy of my own life: being a multi-hyphenate, I believe my many talents are like rivers, fusing together in a way that makes them uniquely their own. I am a professional actress and a singer, and I believe my performance career gives me a distinct perspective to my photography that others lack, and I believe my photography helps my performance career in that way too. If we’re continuing with the river metaphor, the place where my performance and photography careers meet is intentional, emotional story-telling. As an individual with synesthesia, I believe color is an integral role in evoking the right emotion, and I think nostalgia is one of the most potent emotions we experience. My goal is that you can look back on your photos in 6 days or 60 years and be able to feel the complicated sweetness of what it feels like to be alive and yet to have moments be so fleeting (which is why I capture them, so you can be present in the moment and enjoy them!!).
If this resonates with you, shoot me a message and let’s chat!
